Strainer Alert!!! - Lower Gunpowder 2/17/14
Immediately above Pot Rocks there is a tree going 80% of the way across the river. Stay left thru the entrance to the rapid. You can catch the eddy on the right and ferry across, but if you are not 100% sure you can do that ferry, stay left.
New Pool Rules: Helmets are REQUIRED. The pool gets very crowded, and there is a definite risk of getting whacked in the head with a paddle. Spending Sunday night in the ER getting stitched up is not that much fun.
Minors can be in the pool only if: (1) they are under the supervision of a parent/guardian or other responsible adult and (2) they are in the pool for the purpose of learning to roll (or practicing their rolls).
Want to learn to roll or improve your roll, learn to brace better, bow rescue, wet exit, try out other boats, flatwater playboating tricks, or just hang out? Come to the pool at Goucher College in Towson! Want to help others learn to roll and other skills, definitely come to the pool, we could always use and appreciate more instructors.

Our Club was founded in 1976 as the Greater Baltimore Canoe Club and over the past 36+ years has supported paddlers of all stripes - whitewater, flatwater, seakayers, canoe campers, you name it - and been a voice for watersports and river conservation. Our sport in all its forms has changed a lot over almost four decades, and so we've recently decided to change our name - to the Baltimore Canoe & Kayak Club!
Along with that, we've redesigned our website and hope that you'll continue to find it a useful resource for connecting with fellow paddlers and advancing the sport we all enjoy so much. Comments and suggestions are always welcome: Just email our webmaster.
